There are so many, many articles on the "Secrets to Marriage" and what you bring to the table?" However, many of us think that just because some random person wrote the article, they could not possibly be talking about me! We never stop to put ourselves in the shoes that we're reading. This article asks the question "What Kind of Spirit are you bringing to marriage" and I got to be honest, we literally had to ask ourselves that question. Do we always have a spirit of gentleness and or kindness? 1st Cor. 13 says "love is kind, love is gentle, love does not boast, keeps no record of wrong. Those versus literally give us a recipe to a successful marriage if we could just get out of our own way. There is no secret to this, it takes managing, work, and constant vigilance in order to be successful. At times you must be willing to lay down your right for someone else's wrong, you must be willing to forgive, you have to let your love be kind and gentle, and you cannot allow your love to become self-seeking. When you do, you have lost the vision of trying to master this thing called marriage.
We encourage you to spend some time looking at areas of your marriage where there is a need for improvement and where you can create and invest in your "love bank." We welcome your feedback and comments, what do you think?
